Some well-known neighbourhoods, such as Olympic Village or Gastown, are not included in the default MLS city or area lists.
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for creating Custom Subareas so you can group MLS listings and feature them on your Community Page.
Custom Subareas will need polygon coordinates to determine exact location.
1. Determine the City associated with the Custom Subarea.
For example, we can decide Olympic Village should be part of Vancouver West.
2. Create new subarea under the determined City.
Add name and other info as needed. Next step, we will generate the polygon coordinates.
3. Generate the Polygon Coordinates by using this Online Tool → https://www.doogal.co.uk/polylines
- Enter "Vancouver" and click Find. This will focus the map to Vancouver for easier search. Then, click on the Trash Bin icon on the top right to remove the default pin created by the tool.
- Drag and zoom in/out to find the area you are looking for.
- After the map is focused to the area of your choice, click on the map to create the first pin. Keep clicking to create multiple pins. Click on the first pin again as your last step, which will enclose the shape and complete the map. (Below coordinates are just examples to showcase. The shape can be as complex as needed.)
- After the shape is complete, click on the CSV tab to get list of coordinates that represents the shape you've created. Copy only the coordinates and paste them into the Custom Map Boundary Coordinates on the Brixwork Backend.
4. Make sure to click the Save button at the bottom of the page to save all changes!
