So you have a PDF document with information that you would like to share. How do you do that? Do you need to type out the whole thing in Wordpress? 'Cause that would be tedious....
No way! There is an easy way to upload your document so that it appears as a link in the content THEN when it is clicked on opens the PDF instead of going to another website!
Let me show you how.
First, as always, you must log into Wordpress. Why don't you "Create a New Post" to practice.
Above the content box there is two rows of editing tools. Above that, there is a button called "Add Media." This is what you want to click.
It will take you here. This is where all of the photos or other documents you have uploaded are stored. You can select one of the files, if that is what you want, or upload a new one.
Click on the blue "Upload Files" link.
This is what you will see. Click "Select Files."
And a finer pop up will appear. Find the document that you wish to upload.
You can either double click on it to upload the file, or you can select it and click "Open."
Once it is uploaded, it will appear in your "Media Library" with the rest of your files. It will remain selected and, on the right side of the page, you will see the file or "Attachment Details." Within it, enter the Title that you wish the file to have (the title will appear in your article content as the link). You can also add a description.
When you have finished entering the information that you want, click "Insert into Post" at the bottom in Blue.
Voila! Now you have a link to your PDF embedded in your article.
If you wish to unlink this document, all you need to do is click on it (or highlight it), then you will see two yellow chain link buttons in the editing tools. The one that looks like a broken chain link with remove it.
